BookSense XT Digital Audio Book Player with FM Radio Review
The BookSense XT is light and compact. That having been said, is where easy stops. It has many features, possibly more than are needed, when you consider the instructions fill 27 pages. A lot to remember for one with visual challenges. The instructions are not simple to follow.
Some of the best instruction for this device was actually created by SET-BC (Special Education Technology British Columbia), and PRCVI (Provincial Resource Centre for the Visually Impaired) Their instruction are approximately 65 pages, but easier to read and with visual aids. The best part is in the addendum where a flow chart of direction was partially created and makes operation easier. [...] | [...]
Unfortunately the manufacturer has not adapted or continued the flow chart since it would make for easy reference on how to get anything done.
I have used this for approximately for a year and read 20 plus books with it. If the battery runs down, it will default to internal memory from sd card. I have also had difficulties in trying to speed forward or backward.
If your main object is to read, there are several options like the Victor Stream reader or even the bulkier unit for free from NLS.
For the sighted and younger person this may be great, but for the disadvantaged and elder, other options will be easier and less frustrating.
