I ordered this without a firm understanding of how it works, but am pleased with what it does. For the lower body, it squeezes the feet using airbags under the upholstery, then it relaxes this pressure and squeezes the legs for several seconds. This has a nice therapeutic effect. At the same time, the back, shoulders, and neck are manipulated with the user's choice of kneading, vibration, and thumping. I find the manipulation of the upper body too intense, so I lay a small blanket across the backrest before sitting on the chair. This softens the effect. There is no vibration or kneading of the feet, but for me the pressure treatment is enough. There is an automatic mode, which cycles through various preset manipulations. There is also a manual mode, allowing the user to select specific operations or specific spots (shoulders, lower back, neck, etc.) to be treated. Very relaxing.
