Used this rack on a 1500 mile trip, to carry a Pride Maxima scooter, rated at 186 pounds. The only issue we had was that on steep driveways, it sometimes dragged a bit. But the damage to the rack was minimal and the issue was easily prevented by traversing steep driveways at an angle.

This rack is very solid and well made. It has spring loaded catches that make it very easy to deal with the ramp. There are lots of places to secure the scooter using straps. When not carrying a scooter, it folds up easily and rides well, though it blocks the rear door.

The instructions were a bit lacking. The assembly instructions were fine, but when it came to installing the built rack onto the car, it had next to nothing for explanation. Luckily, I discovered that the shaft of the rack, that inserted into the hitch, extended past the back of the hitch, which permitted it to be secured on the backside of the hitch. It seemed possible that it could be secured from the front, but it would have failed and there would have been disaster. The instructions should have provided a picture of the rack and securing plate and how it interfaces with the hitch.

We had an opportunity to use a straight ramp to drive the scooter into the back of my Suburban, but after doing this one time, it was obvious this would often be too much of a hassle to bother with, and would have greatly lessened my ability to do the things we wanted to do. With this ramp, it took longer to remove the straps than it did to lower the ramp and remove the scooter.

Based on my research, the equivalent ramp purchased and installed by anyone else, would have cost hundreds more. Prime membership saved me the $75 shipping charges and it only took about 45 minutes to build and install with 1 helper.

After traveling with this ramp, I consider it the best thing we bought for this trip. It made mobility a non-issue.
