High Strength Aluminum Ultra-Lightweight Wheelchair Footrests: Swing-Away Review

This product IS HELPFUL as a Lightweight Wheelchair that you can PUSH YOURSELF in or to use as a Transport chair when someone else is assisting you. My friends, mostly ladies, say it is EASY TO LIFT, fold and put into a car, and have no problems with assembly/disassembly. It can also Fold Compactly and be tucked away into a closet.

It is a transport chair with "big-wheels" on the sides to allow for self-propelling. The wheels seem similar to bicycle tires, with an outer wheel/rim made of aluminum. Wheels are lightweight, but do seem to support weight well (less than 250lbs., comfortably). The Nylon Seating material, similar to other transport chairs, is comfortable and does prevent perspiration and odor buildup. Nylon pouch on back of chair is more convenient for caregiver. Arm rests seem comfortable, and CHAIR ROLLS UNDER STANDARD DESK for better sitting at computer. Feetrests are extremely easy to assemble, and are very sturdy.

*Weight Supported: probably no more than 225 comfortably
- Rolls Well on Smooth Surfaces
- Fairly comfortable without extra cushions (use your own judgment)
- Others can push you very fast and very smoothly
- Shipped very quickly with "Pop-Up" Assembly, e.g., unfold chair and it's ready to use.

Considerations -
- Almost suited more for child rather than adult (I'm a short person); but works
- Feet Rests are High, Knees may feel like they're in your chest
-- This May NOT be comfortable for those with Hip Replacements
- Wheels Not Suitable for Gravel or Tough Terrain
- Not for heavy snow.
- Pushing Self is ok even with arthritis / arm/joint problems (take it easy though, doesn't roll too fast)
- Careful not to get hands entangled in Wheel / Spokes when Pushing Self
- Paratransit services may be rough on chair if their straps / anchors are used WHILE you're sitting in the chair. (The full body weight on the chair along with their heavy straps may bend parts of the chair during a rough ride; have not tried this yet.)

Overall, I WOULD recommend this chair for people who are able to push themselves even a little. It will help you maintain independence, and lighten the load from your caregiver.

Human Touch PC-80 Perfect Chair® , PC-8 Red Leather Recliner Review

Pros:

It definitely helps my back. I can work for hours with my laptop and have no pain whatsoever. It's way better than sitting upright in my office chair. I use it every day and it's extremely comfortable. I can't fault it on that.

Cons:

1. It is made out of very thin painted-on fake leather, and any tiny scratch shows the light-colored material underneath which looks awful. I have a cat, and she likes to climb up the chair to sit above my head, so forget about it. It looked dinged up the first week, and now it looks horrible. I really, really wish they would just use real upholstery fabric which can hold up way better to real use. We don't all live in pristine minimalist houses with no pets or kids.

2. The leg rest almost immediately became bowed as the support started bending. There was hardly any strength to it. This is why they warn you all over the manual to not stand up until you've put the chair ALL the way back into an upright position. But come on - that takes forever. I am in and out of this chair all day, sometimes I'm just going to hop out of the chair. And any bit of excess pressure on the leg rest made it bow. What I ended up doing is have my brother reinforce it with a 2 x 4 - which worked great, but I don't expect to have to retrofit a $2000 chair myself a few months after owning it.

3. The cushion on the foot rest is not memory foam or latex which means it gets compressed, and pretty quickly. There's a big valley in mine now, where my legs go. That goes for my butt too - the padding under it is getting thinner as time goes on.

So. Basically I just don't think it's a very high quality product. It's a well thought out concept, and the proportions and design are great. But the implementation is with poor quality materials - cheap fabric, cheap foam, and inadequate reinforcement.

For this much money, they could easily use a foam like latex that holds its shape and lasts for decades. They could easily offer real leather, or a durable and attractive upholstery fabric. And they could obviously reinforce it more - we did it in about half an hour.

I'm disappointed that for the price you don't get better quality. Unfortunately it's the only chair like it that I've found so I guess I'm going to be living with it for awhile.

Purchased to be used as wedding favors. The jars arrived quickly as orders on amazon.com usually do. I was shocked to see how TINY the jars are which makes finding a label that fits on them very difficult. They are not assembled. This scooter is my first medical mobility scooter, purchased because it was in our price range, which is limited. I am not a tall person, nor do I have long legs, but even I find it difficult to sit with my knees up for long periods because the foot rests are not long enough to allow your legs to stretch.
