Timex Ironman Global Trainer With GPS Watch - Speed + Distance with Flex Tech Digital 2.4 Heart Rate Sensor One Color, One Size Review

At first, this seemed like a great buy. The HR monitor was relatively comfortable, the watch was very easy to customize and intuitive, and it fit well.

Then, I began to notice that the pace was off by a rather large margin. I had trouble getting a GPS signal, even on clear days, standing outside, and in the same spot I last turned off the watch.

The elevation was way off. I ran on the beach right beside the water and it gave me a large range of altitudes.

And, during it's first real test in a triathlon, I noticed at the start of the run that it had lost it's GPS signal. To make a long story short, I had to fiddle with it in the middle of my race and eventually had to turn it off and on to get it to reset and find a singal. Big bummer.

I returned it for a refund.

I gave it two starts instead of one b/c it seems like the flaws are fixable with a firmware update, but the watch has been out for around a year now, and if they haven't fixed these flaws yet, will they ever???? Who knows.

I recommend not buying until you are sure that all of the bugs are fixed.

I think I should've gone with the Macroview, but not the digital version. It takes a lot of getting use to, and the software isn't supported by the current EMR system we use, so it can't be inserted in the patient note/chart. This defeats the whole point of the digital version. I love Welch Allyn in general for most products, this being one of them, but I wish I would've gone with the plain Macroview Ototscope.
