Incharacter - Vampiress Of Versailles 2X Womans Costume Review

Costume is very true to to what is in the picture. Outfit came with its own garment bag. The red brocade part is much nicer than it seemed in the picture and has a very nice quality. It looks beautiful on. The bodice foundation is a very comfy velvet and overall it just had a nice feel to wear, although just a little time in it and I was quite warm--not sure I would be buying this costume for daytime in Florida. It arrived a little crinkled from being folded over in the box and could use a little bit of steaming on the black part of the skirt but I would not be mortified to wear it right out of the box. I read the vendors size suggestions but opted to go one size up from their guidelines and I was glad I did, but probably could have gone true to their suggestions but had a tighter fit. I had a little extra room but not that much. The way the costume hangs it does not look too big at all. (I am a size 16 and I ordered a 3x but could gain a size it would probably still fit well). The hoop comes with the outfit and has to be assembled, which I have not tackled yet but honestly with the underskirt and just the dress it is pretty full and poofy already. Without the hoop the skirt skims the ground on my five foot 10 body so if you are on the shorter side you may want to factor in that you might need to hem or pin, which I think is worth the effort for this costume.

Two things to note: The costume actually fits high on the chest. To have the kind of cleavage that the woman does in the picture you really, really need a good quality corset. On the other hand if you don't wear one it is less vampy and would make it highly appropriate for work or even a school function.

Secondly, a small point that I had not really thought of when I ordered the costume. The neck piece (which is also very nice and not a cheesy afterthought) is like a big cone around your neck. I had ordered a long black wig and realized that the only real option with the neck piece is to either wear your hair pinned up as shown or to have short hair because long hair will fall very oddly on around the neck part. As I did not think of this I thought I would share so you really think out the whole look. I am so excited to wear this for Halloween!
